Why this recipe works

This recipe works because it combines:

  • simple ingredients that are easy to find
  • a soft and creamy texture
  • no complicated baking steps
  • a fun, aesthetic presentation perfect for Easter

Calories & Protein (per cake pop)

  • Calories: ~90 kcal
  • Protein: ~4 g

Tools you’ll need

Ingredients (makes ~10–12 cake pops)

  • 120 g cake or muffins for this recipe I used my Banana Chocolate Easter Muffins
  • 100 g Greek yogurt (or plant-based yogurt)
  • 80 g dark chocolate
  • 1 tsp coconut oil (optional)

Optional:

  • sprinkles
  • coconut flakes
  • crushed nuts

Instructions

1. Prepare the base

Crumble the cake or muffins into a bowl until you get a fine texture.

Add the yogurt and mix until the mixture becomes soft, slightly sticky, and easy to shape.

The consistency should allow you to form balls without them falling apart.

2. Shape the cake pops

Take small portions of the mixture and roll them into balls using your hands.

Place them on a tray lined with baking paper.

Try to keep them uniform in size for a more aesthetic result.

3. Chill

Place the cake balls in the fridge or freezer for about 30 minutes.

This step helps them firm up before dipping in chocolate.

4. Melt the chocolate

Melt the dark chocolate with coconut oil until smooth and glossy.

5. Assemble the cake pops

Insert sticks into each ball.

Dip each cake pop into the melted chocolate or coat using a spoon.

6. Decorate

Add toppings like sprinkles, coconut flakes, or crushed nuts while the chocolate is still soft.

7. Set and serve

Place them back on the tray and let the chocolate harden.

Serve once fully set.

Tips for the best result

  • Don’t add too much yogurt or the mixture becomes too soft
  • Chill well before dipping
  • Use good quality chocolate for better coating
  • Work quickly when decorating

Make it lighter (lower calorie swaps)

  • use 0% Greek yogurt
  • reduce chocolate coating or drizzle instead
  • use lighter cake base
  • skip toppings or use minimal
